manalog is the first album by 'stricktly rockers' a small mobile unit of two singers and guitarplayers.it also contains the single 'supercybersexy' the album and single both produced by ace producer jean-marie aerts and engineered by michel dierickx at ICP brussels. the music on the album is a mixture between dub- reggae,lo-fi pop,frippertronics and simplistic kraftwerk electronics. No use of digital sampling or reproccessing makes it warmer and more human than most contemporary records.the high pitched 'leslied' melodic voice of jan vön braedt and the bruges-lacelike guitar miniatures of mister K sound magical and bizarre (his feet are as important as his hands in his guitarplaying), it makes them like a surealistic cross between pet shop boys,guided by voices and tom waits ina rub a dub stylie. 'supercybersexy' is about sleepless nights, sexual obsession and internet.'mr producer' with its vintage recording techniques,'eno'-like snake guitars and confessional lyrics is tasty radio food.Most of the songs are based round organic and mantralike guitarloops that replace proper drumparts with minimal live percussion added.we recorded the whole album with tiny-liliput guitar amps, toy synths and beat boxes, to create a very intimate,warm and wet atmosphere.we build shrines in the studio to please the studiogods. 'babes music hit factory' with its oriental feel even has a eerie 'deathmetal' section in it. 'perfume' with its sniffin' break is not about cocaďne but about the smell of female. the big outdoor sounding 'E.L.V.I.S' is not about the boy from tupelo.the infinite guitarsound was created on a 5watt pignose amp. 'evol love' and 'planet girlfriend' are justified and ancient hardcore discotracks.'goldenboy' rises the finger to stadiumrock.
